Synopsis: This was Day One of a two-day trip to the Rowe Sanctuary to photograph Sandhill Cranes. This day started off meeting up with Jim Glynn of Great Bend as he was also up there on a short two-day trip. We drove around to photograph cranes in fields near the Platte River. Some scattered snow showers developed late in the afternoon which provided for some interesting background at times. I then spent the early evening/sunset at one of the Rowe Sanctuary blinds to photograph cranes coming into roost along the Platte. The sunset was incredible with the sky on fire with a deep red/violet hues with cranes silhouetted as they landed. |
