More Photos of 10 November Johnson, KS tornado

Here is another photo of the Johnson, KS tornado at its mature stage.  The image was processed using mainly Levels in Adobe Lightroom and further processed using layers in Paint Shop Pro.  I used Neat Image to clean some of the noise up since I shot this at 500 ISO on my Nikon D200.  (My Nikon D3 is what I am currently using only for ultra-wide angle landscape/stormscape images, which is why all the tornado images were shot using the D200 so I could zoom in more).

There are more images!  I have uploaded an album of 22 photos showing the life of the this rare western Kansas November tornado

  1. Wow! That’s probably a “once in a lifetime” event. I’m amazed. Great shots!

  4. Mike, what a catch for November! This underscores what Blufie and I have been saying for sometime now: “Kansas is the place to be.” Also, your photographic record is superb. Congrates, as well, to you and the DDC NWS team on your award. It’s well deserved.

  5. Hey Mike!

Congrats my friend! Dang, that was a superb tornado! I was watching it unfold from Denver, wishing I were there too!!! Great job on the forecast and the chase. A wonderful Nov score! Speaking of score, 803 last night on league. About time LOL!

  6. AJ, Ed, Bob, Joel, Roger…. thanks! Roger, no hijacking my blog comments with bowling talk LOL… 803 I hate you! That is as incredible as a western KS tornado in November. I’m barely holding on to a 216 average on Wednesday nights… no spectacular nights, just a lot of decent 650-680 nights the last couple months on Wednesdays :)

  7. Mike, nothing wrong with 216 my friend!!! That’s a great average considering the lanes you bowl on. You’ll get that 8 soon I bet! Shoot, I didn’t even shoot a 300 in that score.

  8. Gentleman, I know of something more incredible than catching a tornado near Johnson City in November: myself bowling anything over a 99! LOL.
