storm chase update june 8 5:10pm cdt

Filed under: chase mode updates — Mike U @ 5:14 pm

I decided to chase close to home since I had a day off and it appeared
storms would form along the cold front with fairly high CAPE and
marginal shear. Well, convective initiation did occur near Ashland…
but as soon as storms developed in Clark County, they rapidly
dissipated. I decided not to chase all that far from home since it
appeared that only marginal chances for organized supercells existed
across the western/central plains. Since storms have dissipated where
I sit here southeast of Ashland, I will likely begin my short trek
back home. My next chase day will likely be Day 1 of my second chase
vacation, which begins June 17th… next Thursday.
